Creating an Ecosystem
Consumables Storage
Project Overview
Our team was tasked with developing a storage system that promotes usage of consumables for the Swash fabric care system. This storage system was intended to co-exist with the Swash machine as part of an ecosystem.
Roles
co-project lead
industrial designer
CAD modeler

Meet Swash
Co-developed by Whirlpool and Procter & Gamble, the Swash system allows user to dewrinkle, deodorize, and dry their clothes without the damage cause by traditional fabric care machines.

Fabric Freedom
Untethered from water and pipes, Swash can be placed where clothes are stored, be it bedroom or closet.
The Pods
Swash uses cup-based consumables to dewrinkle and deodorize clothes allowing for fabric care without water.

The Home Aesthetic
The inclusion of Swash into living spaces necessitated a more decor focused approach to the storage aesthetic.

Development
Sketch work was used in conjunction with CAD to ensure that concepts possessed ample volume for the pods.

A look at the final concept suite.
Tray
The Tray is able to exist on tabletop surfaces and on top of the Swash. With it’s polished wire-frame construction and pliable fabric, the Tray can elegantly blend into the user’s home and decor.
Tower
The Tower allows for organized dispensing of consumables via vertical stacking. It’s divided and transparent housing also enables controlled selection of multiple scents.
Bag
The heavy fabric body of the Bag concept allows for open and catch-all accessibility, while maintaining rigidity for a more controlled visual presence.
